June

Just a quick post to say that June approaches, and we have June 15-17 as the weekend for you all to come up to the lake, if you are interested and able. Everyone is invited. Let us know what might work for you. Or let us know if you can’t make it, so we can plan accordingly.

We can arrange to pick you up at the airport, or we can give you directions to the lake if you’re driving up.

I hope this will be a good way to get together this summer!

Sara, Claire, Eliot, and I are all planning to make the drive if we can. Thanks so much for opening this up. I know it’s a lot of people to have descending on your house. Looking forward to it though.

Jeff — Steph and I have the weekend on our calendars. It’s good to have a date in the calendar for something to look forward to this summer in June.

I imagine Steph and I will be coming via automobile, so perhaps you can post directions here sometime closer to the Lake Weekend.

Also, let us know if we can bring anything. If you’d like to dole out responsibilities for meals, snacks, etc. — Steph and I would be more than happy to help out where we can.

We’re really looking forward to it…. See you in about a month!

Thanks Gannons and Beckers. We’ll be planning for you both to advance on Minnesota from the south and east.

    Johns(t)ons? Peters?

Looking forward to this gathering. I will post directions to the lake closer to the time, but if you want to look it up, the lake place is just one mile west of the small town of Elysian, Minnesota, on Lake Francis.

And that’s a great idea about divvying up meals and various responsibilities. We’ll consider that and when we post directions and know for sure who is able to come, I’ll post some ideas and options and ask you all to pitch in. Thank you.

I wish I could say that we’ll be there but our realestateing has become more complicated in the last two weeks.

Bad news: Our buyer pulled out of the contract on the Elgin house three hours before her financing option lapsed. Very suspicious.

Good news: The next day we found our proverbial dream home and put an offer on it. There were seven bids and ours was the winner and we only had to bid 6Gs over the asking price – such is the Austin market right now. The inspection has been done and everything looks great.

Bad news: If we don’t find another buyer for our house in Elgin before we close on our new house we’ll be carrying two mortgages and have very little money to eat let alone travel. At least we don’t close until the June 19.

Glimmer of hope news: If we sell the Elgin house on or before June 19 I think we could still make it to Minnesota but even so, moving complications may also keep us from the Northland.

I hope we can make it because frankly, we need it. Our nerves are fried.
